This handmade beaded necklace features a playful mix of old venetian trade beads, rose quartz and rhodonite.
The venetians trade beads are old (and collectible) gooseberry beads. They are clear glass, with white stripes on the sides, mimicking creamy striped gooseberries. I've seen amazing drawings of how these beads were created. Canes of white (for the stripes) were set in molten clear glass. There were 2 knobs of some kind on the glass, and 2 glass bead makers would hold the knobs and run to opposite sides of the room stretching the glass into long thin rods. The rods were laid on the floor to cool and finally cut. If you click the jewelry photo (above) and look closely at the venetian beads in the actual size image, you can easily tell that they are hand cut.
...So there's a bit of glass bead making history that you can enjoy and wear!
The energy of this necklace is one of light-hearted-ness and joy. This comes from the gentle heart vibration of the rose quartz in combination with the happy spirit of rhodonite. In fact, these two stones are one of my favorite "stone marriages." Their energies harmonize perfectly and bring out the best in each other.
This handmade necklace would be excellent for anyone seeking more playfulness and joy in their life.
For those of you who prefer longer necklaces, the full strand length of this jewelry is 28". It slips over the head (making it an excellent choice for people who can't or don't want to fiddle with clasps.) It can also be wrapped around the wrist as a 3 strand beaded bracelet. (This will be a very loose fit if you have a skinny wrist.)
