I’ve long had the wish to offer many more Buddhist prayer beads malas than are currently available on this site.

I love the idea that I can make something beautiful that will actually aid people in their meditation practice. At the same time, prayer beads make wonderful gifts for both women and men. They give men (who are unlikely to wear gemstone jewelry) the opportunity to experience the energy of these beautiful stones. And prayer beads can support people going through various spiritual shifts and changes, even if they use the prayer beads in non-traditional ways.

One of the things that has significantly slowed my prayer bead making is the tassels. The tassel has significance in some Buddhist (and other) traditions and I’ve always wanted to include them. But I’ve had problems finding the right kind of cord or thread and I sometimes want something more elegant than commercial tassels.

I’m happy to announce, after extensive research on tassel making, I’ve discovered some lusterous rayon thread that I think will make beautiful prayer bead tassels.
