Manjushri is one of the 8 Great Bodhisattvas. He represents the wisdom aspect of the Buddha. In some imagery he is shown holding an utpala flower, but he is most often depicted raising a sword with his right hand (often wound with the utpala) representing his discriminating wisdom and holding a book of scriptures in his left.
In Sanskrit his name means “sweetly glorious.” He is associated with the color yellow.
This sweetly glorious wrist mala is made of 27 rare, burmese gold jade beads. I always experience an energy of meditative equipoise with Burmese jade that I do not find in any other stone. It’s very quiet, and makes me think of Buddhist yogis, Taoist masters and other hidden adepts.
This was my first opportunity to work with rare gold jade, and the equipoise is still there, but the activity of “cutting through” is much stronger. I understand why this piece has been calling itself Manjushri Mala Beads in my thoughts and hope it will bring discriminating wisdom to whoever owns it.
The “Guru bead” is natural aquamarine, and the flowing handmade tassel is rayon.
SOLD OUT.
Based on the rarity of the jade, this mala should retail for $165
I’m offering it in a special selling for $135.
